Hi there,
i just launched a "ALPHA" version of my evetube.com website. The priority is quality, sound is 128kbit, videostreams are 3Mbit/s or 2.4Mbit/s. There is a native fullscreenmode and you can embedd the videos into your website (play around with the buttons in the player).
Some guy announced a evetube a while ago, but i registered the domain a few months ago. I just had no time to create it :)
I will add 5 Videos everyday. A archiv and a remote downloader will come within 2 weeks.
Server is connected 100Mbit/s. So check it out please :)

wow thanks all. I know there is alot of stuff missing, i just hacked this together on friday/saturday. There is no login, comments, categorys, tags etc. because my plan was to check first how it goes :)
i add a browse functionality and tags and a few more features within the next days :)

depends... videos are streamed from 2.4-3mbit/s and the server is located in germany.
at the moment there are only 11Mbit/s outgoing. Maybe it is just a peering problem atm. It will help to start and pause the movie so that the background download still continues. And when the buffer is high enough start watching.
I will work on this. If the site is a success i will move servers soon to a 300mbit/s host with a good peering for non europe countrys. But it will take some time.

as i said it really depends where are you from.
europe = fine
usa = depends on peering
i check out if i can mirror the streamingfiles to another server hosted in canada and implement a check to figure out where the visitor is coming from.
if you have troubles and the videos are stalling can you supply a traceroute output for me please?

i do not care about my bandwith, i got enough of it...
and to stage6...
upload a high quality movie to stage6 and to evetube and you will find out, especially in "NATIVE" fullscreen mode :)
And EVE is about dedication, so... :)

yeah there are a few problems in the encoding process with some codecs resulting in sound out of sync a bit or wrong aspect ratio. I still try to figure this out :)

a little status ;)
after like 1 week evetube.com burned 2.4 TB traffic with 81 Movies in the database.
Changes for the coming week are:
- A "per ship" archiv where you can look for videos where a featured ship is active
- Comments and Ratings for Videos
In January i will move the server to a 300Mbit/s line with good connectivity to non-european countrys and talk with chribba again for a co-operation. So that you can watch AND download from a few fast servers.

i think i finally fixed the damn audio out of sync problem for *NEW* uploads... at least i hope so

so this time i REALLY fixed the sync problem, switched from mencoder to ffmpeg as encoder. i tested with Eve Never Fades and Loftys Tortugwaah video ( http://evetube.com/index.php?playid=154 ).
i will try to reencode all previous uploaded videos too but this will take some time.

yeah as soon i have some time off in my company i will improve it and add userprofiles etc. Uploads/Downloads can be slow for some people outside europe because the Server is hosted in Germany, the server will be relocated in a few weeks

i will add a optional field in the upload form to set the aspect ratio so that the encoder does it right :)
